{"id":10880,"date":"2012-02-03T12:32:18","date_gmt":"2012-02-03T19:32:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/?p=10880"},"modified":"2012-02-03T12:32:18","modified_gmt":"2012-02-03T19:32:18","slug":"sharing-the-love","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/?p=10880","title":{"rendered":"Sharing the Love"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saying goodbye is never easy. \u00a0Despite developing a healthy, loving relationship with the chaparral over the last seven months, we&#8217;re currently taking a break. \u00a0For the past month I&#8217;ve left behind my beloved field work behind for long hours inside the office. \u00a0Saying that sitting leaves me antsy is an understatement. \u00a0I long to frolic in the chaparral once more!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Although cubicle days can be tough and data entry an undeniably necessary evil, it <em>does<\/em>\u00a0have its perks. \u00a0\u00a0Working on a multitude of education and outreach projects for Pine Hill Preserve is a great outlet for sharing my enthusiasm. \u00a0Throughout the field season we had a handful of regular student volunteers, but our current efforts aim at getting many more excited about rare plants, conservation, and BLM. \u00a0A large part of which has been tabling at local career fairs. \u00a0This week&#8217;s event alone had over 1,400 students! \u00a0I love hearing students whose initial questions were &#8220;The BL-who? Chapara-what?! &#8221; leave enthusiastic about conservation. \u00a0Hopefully we&#8217;ve inspired a new botanist or two!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/?attachment_id=10881\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-10881\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-10881\" src=\"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1862-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"442\" height=\"294\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1862-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1862-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1862-450x300.jpg 450w, https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_1862-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 442px) 100vw, 442px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0We&#8217;ve also been working hard to develop new education and outreach materials for the Preserve. \u00a0Most recently this has included brainstorming for our booth at the upcoming Girl Scouts&#8217; 100th anniversary celebration. \u00a0Ten thousand girl scouts are expected! \u00a0My days are filled with color book pages, display boards, and bright photos&#8211; not to mention the immeasurable challenging of distilling down chaparral, the preserve, and rare plants to an appropriate level.
