In addition to the valuable career experience gained through the Chicago Botanic Garden’s Conservation and Land Management (CLM) Internship program, there are plenty of good times to be had as a CLM intern! It’s important for people who work together to also…celebrate festive occassions together!<\/p>\n

BIRTHDAYS.<\/strong> To celebrate the birthdays of those with whom we work\u00a0on a regular basis, we go out for lunch together. (No photo available.)<\/em><\/p>\n

PUMPKIN-CARVING CONTEST.<\/strong>\u00a0For Halloween, our office\u00a0promoted a pumpkin-carving contest for staff participation and a pizza party. I work with another CLM intern; our mentor supplied the pumpkin, and we took care of the rest, utilizing our carving skills and incorporating our botanical work into our jack-o-lantern creation.<\/p>\n

TREE-DECORATING.<\/strong> To commemorate Christmas, some staff members decorated a Christmas tree. Additionally, we\u00a0shared a potluck lunch in\u00a0the conference room,\u00a0also decorated for the occasion.\u00a0Staff had been invited to participate in a white elephant gift exchange in conjunction with the potluck; although the most fun was likely had by those involved, I enjoyed simply being an onlooker.<\/div>\n
