{"id":17710,"date":"2012-07-03T14:02:02","date_gmt":"2012-07-03T21:02:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/?p=17710"},"modified":"2012-07-03T14:02:02","modified_gmt":"2012-07-03T21:02:02","slug":"oh-yes-wyoming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/?p=17710","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Oh Yes, Wyoming!&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Destination:\u00a0 Rock Springs, WY<\/li>\n<li>Mission:\u00a0 Seeds of Success<\/li>\n<li>Mood:\u00a0 Enthusiastic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Standing beneath the midnight stars at a rest stop in the Bonneville Salt Flats after hastily constructing\u00a0a bed accross the passenger seat of\u00a0my car I had more\u00a0time to consider what may lie beyond the horizon, both literally and figuratively&#8230;mostly figuratively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Yes, there would be plenty of sagebrush in southwestern Wyoming.\u00a0 Everyone knows that, right?\u00a0 But what else would be waiting for me in this new, dry land&#8211;this wild arena\u00a0of mystery and vastness that would become my home for the next five months?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I envisioned an endless swath of flat desert, dotted with\u00a0solitary hills and lonely roads disappearing into the unknown.\u00a0 Rock Springs itself sounded like the kind of rough and tumble town you&#8217;d stop in for the evening to tie up your horse and hang your hat after a long day&#8217;s ride through the great, American steppe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Upon arrival it became clear that whatever changes this adventure held in store for me would be welcomed and explored with curiosity and patience.\u00a0 Indeed, Rock Springs bears little resemblance,\u00a0physically or in cultural atmosphere, to Berkeley, CA, from where I began this journey, but I foresee the myriad differences serving to foster in me an attitude of excitement and acceptance, a proclivity toward adaptation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Rock Springs is beautiful.\u00a0 I am happy to be out of my comfort zone and in a new land full of opportunity.\u00a0 Opportunity to explore the West, to meet new people, to see new things and to see things anew.\u00a0 My time with the BLM is still in its infancy;
