It&#8217;s amazing what can change after just a week being gone.\u00a0 Before we left everything was still green and growing.\u00a0 On our first day back in the field we quickly discovered that almost all the grasses have gone dormant, most of the forbs have stopped flowering, and everything is now yellow.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, we have escaped to greener pastures by backpacking up to a glacier lake in the bighorns.\u00a0 Up there are still flowers aplenty and being above the smoke haze was certainly a nice change.\u00a0 However, it should be noted for future trips that marmots like to eat water bottles. Watch out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/?attachment_id=18337\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-18337\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-18337\" src=\"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/0371-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/0371-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/0371-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/0371-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/0371-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 4th of July was great.\u00a0 There was still one fireworks show going on despite the fires, and it was probably the longest show I&#8217;ve ever seen&#8230;and I like fireworks.\u00a0 This weekend is the Bighorn Mountain Festival, so we&#8217;re looking forward to a ton of awesome bluegrass music and a great time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Greetings from Buffalo!
