This week\u00a0marks\u00a0my one year anniversary at the Bend Seed Extractory!<\/p>\n<p>So what have I learned and how have I grown?\u00a0 I could say that I&#8217;ve learned about hundreds of native plant species that are commonly used in ecological restoration all over the western US, which is true&#8230;\u00a0 I could say that I am better equipped to understand the need for native seed availability and what it takes to provide viable native\u00a0plant material\u00a0to\u00a0a quickly growing\u00a0market,\u00a0which is also true&#8230;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Without a doubt the biggest way that I have grown this last\u00a0year is through observing and interacting with the people that I&#8217;ve worked with.\u00a0\u00a0In this last year I&#8217;ve seen one\u00a0manager\u00a0retire, a supervisor move into that managers role,\u00a0learned to co-exist with\u00a0the most difficult co-worker I&#8217;ve ever come across, and had to train a hand full of new\u00a0employees\u00a0with a huge range of ages, experience levels and\u00a0personalities.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve spent\u00a0lots of time observing people interact.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Tense social and professional situations happen frequently here as\u00a0I&#8217;m sure they do in most\u00a0professional settings. \u00a0I&#8217;ve been asking\u00a0myself how I\u00a0might handle them if it was my responsibility and what the possible outcomes could be.\u00a0\u00a0This year\u00a0I&#8217;ve gained a confidence in myself that I know is going to push me\u00a0to\u00a0places I might never have considered\u00a0before coming to work at the Bend Seed Extractory.\u00a0 \u00a0Thanks CLM!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\ufeff\ufeff\ufeffBack from CLM intern training at the Chicago Botanic Garden and I&#8217;m having to re-adjust to my regular life.\u00a0\u00a0The gauntlet of botany, monitoring,\u00a0protocol and safety information we got was intense for sure.\u00a0 Most of it was\u00a0great for refreshing all that &hellip;
