{"id":5634,"date":"2011-07-25T10:34:15","date_gmt":"2011-07-25T17:34:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/?p=5634"},"modified":"2011-07-25T10:34:15","modified_gmt":"2011-07-25T17:34:15","slug":"escondido-ca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/?p=5634","title":{"rendered":"Escondido, CA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My first month out of the redwood fog in Northern California has been a great learning experience.\u00a0 Its been great learning the plants of this bioregion,\u00a0 starkly different from where I came,\u00a0characterized by the chaparral plant community.\u00a0 I am truly grateful to be able to spend my days looking for plants, gathering seed, and cleaning seed.\u00a0 This station is full of motivated people with various projects one can plug into such as cactus wren habitat monitoring and kangaroo rat habitat restoration.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t realize other members of anacardiaceae occured in California, so it was cool to\u00a0meet the genera rhus and malosma.\u00a0 There are a lot of scenic mountain areas here, more than I thought, in a place I thought was just strip malls and urban sprawl.\u00a0 It is refreshing to note how much biodiversity still exists in San Diego county.
