background: #eeeeee;\" alt=\"cherry_plum_one\" src=\"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/cherry_plum_one.jpg\" width=\"467\" height=\"309\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/cherry_plum_one.jpg 616w, https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/cherry_plum_one-453x300.jpg 453w, https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/cherry_plum_one-300x198.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 467px) 100vw, 467px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-58228\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">More cherry plums<\/p><\/div>\n<p>With their sweet juice and tart skin, cherry plums are perfect for jam and we have been using an old grape press to harvest gallons upon gallons of sweet use (which I am hoping to distill) and pulp (largely for vanilla ginger cherry plum jam). \u00a0I digress.\u00a0 Being on rural farm property gives great perspective on plants.\u00a0 Gardening has allowed me to work more intimately and gingerly with plants while harvesting is a great reward.<\/p>\n<p>All in all, this program has been a wonderful experience. \u00a0I have met a number of great people in the BLM community as well as in the San Juan Islands. \u00a0I learn at least something every day, whether a trick to identifying grasses or learning from my bosses&#8217;
