As interns with USGS Henderson, NV, it&#8217;s our job to characterize the annual (and, to some extent, perennial) vegetation available to juvenile Desert Tortoises. Many of the spring wildflowers are in full bloom, and we\u2019ve been learning loads of new species each day. It seems as though there are another five species flowering each time we visit our field sites! We\u2019ve been kept busy keying out new species, especially Cyrptantha sp. (the CLM guide to Cryptanthas has been a fantastic resource).<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_1167.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-61416\" alt=\"IMG_1167\" src=\"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_1167-225x300.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_1167-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_1167-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nBesides amazing new plants, we\u2019ve also seen a number of resident and translocated Desert Tortoises, snakes, and birds!<br \/>\nI am looking forward to adding more species to the list, and learning more about the Mojave as the season goes on!
