Over the past few weeks, we&#8217;ve been collecting from a few plants that we have not seen ready thus far. One in particular that we are most excited about is our\u00a0<em>Rhexia mariana<\/em> collection. We&#8217;ve seen this pesky\u00a0<em>Rhexia<\/em> in just about every preserve and park we&#8217;ve visited, but until now it has not been ready. They look like little vases.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We also recently made our first collections of\u00a0<em>Polygonum sagittatum\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Rosa palustris<\/em>.\u00a0<em>Polygonum sagittatum<\/em>\u00a0has\u00a0quite aptly received the common name of &#8220;arrowleaf tearthumb&#8221;, because of its prickly,\u00a0recurved spines. Alongside the thorny\u00a0<em>Rosa palustris<\/em>, both of these collections were a bit challenging at times. Look at those thorns.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Finally, we were able to make two collections of\u00a0<em>Aralia spinosa<\/em> (which is also laden with spines along its stem and leaves!). Both collections were a lot of fun. It is easy to spot ripe\u00a0<em>Aralia spinosa<\/em> by its bright maroon inflorescence.
