On June 13th I&#8217;ll be starting a permanent BLM position with Las Cruces District Office, doing the same thing I&#8217;m doing now, more or less, and in the same cubicle. I don&#8217;t think I could have gotten here without CLM, and I&#8217;m very happy to be transitioning to a &#8220;real&#8221; job. Maybe I can finally cancel my daily emails from USAJOBS!<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few photos from March, for no particular reason.<\/p>\n<p>First, <i>Echinomastus intertextus<\/i>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/c2.staticflickr.com\/8\/7070\/27089827660_a846c65c91_o.jpg\"><img src=\"https:\/\/c2.staticflickr.com\/8\/7070\/27089827660_b2cb732a5b_b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Phrynosoma modestum<\/i>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/c2.staticflickr.com\/8\/7309\/27331963036_8da0db1c8f_o.jpg\"><img src=\"https:\/\/c2.staticflickr.com\/8\/7309\/27331963036_96105a0997_b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The edge of Carrizozo Malpais:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/c2.staticflickr.com\/8\/7278\/27493350825_5cfc3da2f2_o.jpg\"><img src=\"https:\/\/c2.staticflickr.com\/8\/7278\/27493350825_2eba15875b_b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Near Kilbourne Hole, in an area with abnormally sparse vegetation and low plant diversity. Justin Van Zee of the Jornada Experimental Range informs me that this area has very shallow concretions of basaltic sand held together with calcium carbonate.
