{"id":697,"date":"2009-10-01T13:23:48","date_gmt":"2009-10-01T20:23:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/?p=697"},"modified":"2009-10-01T13:23:48","modified_gmt":"2009-10-01T20:23:48","slug":"my-life-in-pinedale-wy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/?p=697","title":{"rendered":"My Life in Pinedale, WY"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<dl>\n<dt><a href=\"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/DSCF3906.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-698  \" src=\"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/DSCF3906-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Working with GIS tools\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Working with GIS tools<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<p>Life in Pinedale has been a great experience for me.\u00a0 I am from Florida originally, so Wyoming has been quite new and exciting.\u00a0 My primary project at the Pinedale BLM office is Road and Trail inventory.\u00a0 This project requires superb navigation skills and knowledge of several GIS tools.\u00a0 I spend a lot of time making maps and playing with our TRIMBLE unit.\u00a0 The TRIMBLE is a great device for data collection, and I learn more about it every day.\u00a0 I also do a lot of driving for this project because we must ground truth all of the &#8220;potential&#8221; roads and trails.\u00a0 Sometimes, when we cannot access roads with a car, we use mountain bikes or ATV&#8217;s.\u00a0 It&#8217;s fun!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/DSCF3691.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/DSCF3691-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Mountain biking for road &amp; trail inventory\" width=\"266\" height=\"264\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe other projects I have been working on are the Prairie Pothole Project, and Lynx Habitat surveys.\u00a0 The Prairie Potholes formed from past glacial activity.\u00a0 They are ephemeral ponds that support migratory birds and several other animals.\u00a0 Our goal with this project was to take a simple inventory of the ponds in order to monitor the health of the area.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<dl><a href=\"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/DSCF3761.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/DSCF3761-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Prarie Pothole Project\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a> Prarie Pothole Project<\/dl>\n<p>Lynx habitat surveys are really interesting too.\u00a0 We work on a series of random transect points throughout the woods in the Wyoming mountain range.\u00a0 This area is unbelievably beautiful!<\/p>\n<p>Pinedale has been a great town to live in.\u00a0 A local festival known as rendezvous opened my eyes to this region&#8217;s mountain man history and culture;
