{"id":70430,"date":"2016-07-20T09:41:57","date_gmt":"2016-07-20T16:41:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/?p=70430"},"modified":"2016-07-20T09:41:57","modified_gmt":"2016-07-20T16:41:57","slug":"richfield-utah-seed-collecting-is-in-full-gear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/?p=70430","title":{"rendered":"Richfield, Utah seed collecting is in full gear"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi All,<\/p>\n<p>After a slow start to our seed collecting season, we are off at a sprint. \u00a0We have spent quite a bit of time out in the West Desert for our initial seed collecting. \u00a0Our recent excursions into\u00a0the mountains have resulted in 10 possible collections and a wonderful escape from the heat. \u00a0And I must mention it was absolutely breathtaking!! While out collecting seed and hiking around looking for plants of interest, I am often struck by the realization that many people never get to have a job like this: driving around, hiking, exploring Utah\u2019s natural areas, and botanizing.\u00a0 Plus we\u2019re getting paid for this, which so mind-blowing \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Learning to recognize common native plants has been awesome.\u00a0 I have come to enjoy trying to key out plants with the help of my fellow intern who, thankfully, was a botany major.\u00a0 Coming up with a name for a species I don\u2019t know is always so satisfying (especially when it\u2019s one we can collect).
