The collecting season is in full swing\u00a0within\u00a0the Shoshone Field Office as\u00a0Patricia and I have already completed 8 collections! Among my favorites\u00a0was\u00a0Eriogonum sphaerocephalum <\/i>due to the satisfying sensation of\u00a0stripping those perfectly ripe heads off, sometimes multiple at a time. *ohh yeahh*<\/p>\n

Although I have been very busy with work (lots of driving, sweating, checking seed quality, and more sweating), most of my photos were taken during my days off (holy cow, Idaho has been showing off: see below).<\/p>\n

I’ve been improving in my ability to assess seed\u00a0ripeness and quality but have not had much time to\u00a0hunt for or key unknowns. I feel that SOS can only advance my botanical knowledge so\u00a0far, so I hope to find time to learn more of the non-target flora throughout the rest of the summer. However, I’ve been fortunate to have several\u00a0exciting opportunities including\u00a0leading a nature walk for 4Hers, sampling for beetles in the roots of\u00a0Eriogonum<\/em> spp., rare plant monitoring (Downingia bacigalupii<\/i>\u00a0&\u00a0Astragalus oniciformis<\/i>),<\/span><\/em>\u00a0and touring the Lucky Peak Nursery.<\/p>\n
