I conducted plant surveys for areas which have been proposed for timber sales, searching for listed plants. Also, I spent some time collecting data for the final year of a two year study looking at bee diversity on the forest with pan traps and opportunistic netting. Specimens were put into alcohol and sent to a third party for identification. I was responsible for three of the nine observation sites on the forest.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-80037\" src=\"https:\/\/dev-clm-blog.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_0570-600x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_0570-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_0570-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_0570-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.clminternship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_0570-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I checked in on the establishment of some experimental plots of <em>Vaccinium cespitosum<\/em>. The <em>V. cespitosum<\/em> is an obligate host plant for larvae of the\u00a0 northern blue butterfly (<em>Plebejus idas<\/em>), a listed species which has been extirpated from most areas of the forest.
