Things are picking up for us in North Carolina! This week we made another 23 collections on the NC OBX!

The cattails are ready and very easy to collect…but not so easy to press, especially in the field with the constant coastal breeze. We started taking them back to the hotel to press in the room where we had some reprieve from the wind. However, bringing large forbs through the lobby of Holiday Inn Express isn’t exactly “normal behavior” and we were getting a lot of weird looks.

While it’s still pretty hot on top of the dunes, the promise of cooler weather is approaching. And as usual, the sights are amazing.
